with your controller you can adjust the brightness to your liking just read the directions!
3  General Invacare / General Chair Chat / Re: motor issue? on: January 17, 2012, 12:23:55 am
the brakes dragging can indicate batteries are getting low? or not enough power delivered to properly release the brakes "explanation the brakes are always on by pressure from springs this is a safety feature in case of loss of power.....they need electrical power to be released"
you probably know all this but just in case.....thats why it is important to have clean contacts.

GB,S are brush-less motors the only squeal I get is from the brake disk not releasing properly check the motor connection if it is tight and see if it needs cleaning..... see if that helps to get rid of the squeal!........good luck

6  General Invacare / General Chair Chat / Re: How to quieten actuator noise on: November 30, 2011, 12:50:58 pm
Hi Kiwi!
I just finished replacing mine because of noise that built up to grinding noise meaning time to install a new one.
I think elevate makes a bit more noise because its a much sturdier actuator that uses a bronze worm gear mechanism that has less tendency to fail,  for safety reasons you have a bit more noise.

the tilt actuators are whisper quiet because they use a bronze worm gear turning a plastic "crown" gear result less noise but more frequent failures,  they get used a lot compared to the others and have a tremendous load when reclines starts from fully down position.

Jake boy will explain a lot better than me if he replies!
7  General Invacare / General Chair Chat / Re: Charging? on: November 25, 2011, 12:11:10 am
Not 100% shure .....but plug the charger in the chair first without plugging in the charger to the wall .......check if the charger shows a red "wrong" polarity warning light or green "right" polarity light........if green go ahead and charge your chair!
8  General Invacare / General Chair Chat / Re: Ranger X Storm series problem on: November 06, 2011, 01:09:27 pm
just a tough slip the batteries back to break connection then re install it might be a poor contact somewhere then try again if unsolved unplug the joystick at the control box and re-install.....good luck
9  General Invacare / General Chair Chat / Re: battery conections on: November 02, 2011, 06:41:07 am
Thanks Jake boy.

I was going to update on this today,....the problem seems to come from the 2 fuses right on the battery connectors that seem to have a tendency to loose contact when they get warmed up, the fuses are in good condition but the way they are bolted together is a bit touchy because one has to tighten both nuts holding the fuse and hold both sides to be sure of good contact,   this can easily be done with the battery connection slacked off to give room for the wrench to latch on...keep in mind that these fuses are encased in plastic so hold back on putting too muck torque that will probably split them open.
so far working normal again........I am sure that Jake boy can explain it better!

thanks!
10  General Invacare / General Chair Chat / battery conections on: October 21, 2011, 01:03:36 am
like the title says battery connections are giving me trouble,   a few inches from the post connection there is a plastic connector of some kind that has a plastic bolt and plastic nut,  those connectors get hot and shows discharged batteries,   my son carefully tighten them up a bit and the chair ran fine no problems for 3 months then the poor connectors start acting up again.
Question can I get rid of these plastic connectors and put in decent connectors and install a self reset breaker on the positive side 24 v feed?
thanks in advance guys!

12  General Invacare / Powerchair Settings / Re: MK6i contoller - False battery reading? on: June 11, 2011, 12:59:25 am
Hi my MK6I controller shows full charge after a days use but if I forget to charge everyday then it will show less charge.......and I think that everything is ok I just charge every night been doing the same thing for 11 yrs and no problems!
when it showes less than full charge it means you have about 2-2 1/2 miles left to get home safely...this is hard on everything because less available amperage = more heat and hard on the batteries....just charge every night and dont worry about it
if your charger shows need charging it needs charging does not mean empty batteries!
Hope this helps ....it's ok Rene

15  General Invacare / General Chair Chat / Re: Have you gone from HDTTGB motors to Pole Motors? on: May 15, 2011, 01:29:08 am
Hi Jen ........ I have never been without GB motors for my personal use and I hope to keep it that way!
My lady friend has been funded for brushed motors just 2 1/2 yrs now and it has spent at least 6 months in the repair shop and wound up costing the government at least $22.000 up to now when a good arrow with GB would have cost only 15-16 thousand but no they want to save a few bucks and have been paying for repairs ever since...........Its simple math if you have more parts on a chair your going to have more repairs she is stuck with out her TDX SP and is using my 3 yrs old Arrow while I use my 11 year old arrow I would pay the extra cost out of poket if possible and get GBs on a simple but dependable arrow any day of the week!
I find this to be a very interesting topic lets hear the pros and cons on this one!
